The Musonia School was recently burgled of instruments and gear belonging to legendary guitarist Randy Rhoads and his late mother Delores Rhoads. Randy Rhoads fans all over the world have taken to Facebook and various other internet outlets to share their saddened reactions , but mostly anger, and to bond together to do what they can to retrieve these priceless, and irreplaceable pieces to their rightful place. The Randy Rhoads Society Facebook Page posted this today:
Very sad turn of events! I just got a call from Kathy Rhoads and she is extremely upset at what’s happened to the Rhoads family and Musonia. I’ve been informed that someone has broken into MUSONIA and stolen Delores Rhoads instruments & some of Randy’s Quiet Riot gear! Completely unbelievable that someone would do this to the Rhoads family whom are always there for the fans and are very friendly and approachable. Totally blows me away! I have been asked by Kathy Rhoads to put this info out there, especially to the people in LA. We hope that someone will maybe hear something or maybe be of help acquiring the stuff back for Kathy Rhoads & family. If anyone hears anything or comes across any of the stolen items please contact us here at The Randy Rhoads Society. I was told by Kathy that they can’t really give too much info as of right now due to an active investigation. Regardless it’s very sad to hear as Randy & Delores are no longer with us which makes these stolen items priceless and irreplaceable. I will pass on more info as I get it . Any help finding info or the stolen items is much appreciated. It’s sad someone would do this to the Randy’s family! Kathy is understandably very upset right now.
According to Randy’s sister Kathy’s Instagram: “The Musonia School of music run and owned by the Rhoads family was broken into. It appears that gear and instruments were stolen that were once belonged to Randy Rhoads and his mother Delores. Now under police investigation more to come.”
From Kathy’s Instagram account
“My heart is BROKEN. Someone broke into Our beloved Musonia …. And stole history” ?????? everything is being assessed and under investigation. So no post as yet to exactly what was taken. I’m just at a loss for words right now. So very sad .”
The Musonia School Of Music was founded in 1948, it is a place where children and adults could receive a musical education affordably . Today the school is run by Delores’s son Kelle Rhoads, the school continues to teach local students of all ages piano, drums, and guitar.
Items we do know were at the Musonia School at the time of the robbery
– 1970s Peavey Standard 260
Used by Randy Rhoads with Quiet Riot. He played it through a cabinet packed with six Altec speakers. Supposedly Ozzy would never let Randy use this Peavey, so Greg Leon who took Randy’s place in Quiet Riot lent him a couple of Marshall rigs.
– Marshall 1959
After joining Ozzy, Rhoads switched to a Marshall. On stage he would use up to three amps, each played through a set of 1960A and 1960B cabinets, both painted white.
